How many weeks does it take before teams stop resisting their natural urge to just wear all-black uniforms? Nine. Nine is the answer.
This week the Arizona Cardinals, Baltimore Ravens, Carolina Panthers, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Philadelphia Eagles are all wearing black jersey/black pants combinations; the dark monochrome trend continues with the Seattle Seahawks (navy blue), Cleveland Browns (purple… no wait, brown), and the Los Angeles Chargers of Carson (navy blue).
We’re not without our fair share of throwback uniforms this week either, the Buffalo Bills and New York Giants are both wearing their throwback sets while the Kansas City Chiefs are having a bit of fun, celebrating the 50th anniversary of their victory in Super Bowl V by wearing grey facemasks with their usual home red set.
A look at your 2019 NFL season Week 9 uniform matchups:
And no, your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you, it’s indeed brown vs orange in the Cleveland Browns at Denver Broncos game! Colour vs colour! We’ll see how this ends up looking once the game gets underway but if the NFL was able to make those all-colour ColorRush games work, this should go along okay too. This is the first true colour vs colour game in the NFL (excluding silvers/greys) since Denver (orange) vs Indianapolis (blue) in Week 15 during the 2017 season.
For this week’s uniform matchup of the week poll, I sure hope you like old-school matchups because, well, that’s sort of my bag.
