In honor of Native American Heritage Month, the Marquette men’s basketball team will wear turquoise alternate uniforms on Nov. 23 against Robert Morris.
The game will be sponsored by Potwatomi Hotel and Casino, while the uniforms are a part of Nike’s N7 program. The Golden Eagles have participate in the program every year since the 2016-17 season.
According to Marquette’s press release, Turquoise holds symbolic prestige and power in many Native American communities.
Nike has been outfitting schools in the N7 turquoise uniforms since 2010, with schools such as Florida State, Gonzaga, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma State, Oregon State and San Diego State having participated in the program in the past.
