The Northern Illinois football program unveiled brand new heather gray uniforms ahead of its Tuesday night game against Eastern Michigan (7:30 p.m. on ESPN2).
The Huskies’ new uniforms aren’t a significant departure from their standard home set, with NIU prominently displayed across the chest and adidas’ Red Zone number font throughout. But it does swap the numbers on the sleeves for Northern Illinois’ primary logo.
The pants, meanwhile, feature the same logo on the hip, as well as Huskies written vertically down the leg.
Northern Illinois is the second college football program to wear this fabric color this season, as Arkansas State did so in a 37-20 loss to Louisiana-Lafayette on Oct. 17. Based on the manufacturer’s catalog, though, it appears the programs intended for the design to be a much lighter gray than what was provided.
