Eight Names Trademarked for Future Charlotte MLS Team

Major League Soccer hasn’t even announced they’re getting a franchise yet, but that hasn’t stopped the future Charlotte team from getting a name ready.

Thanks to Twitter user @ByNeilMorris, we’ve learned that on December 6th, DT Soccer, LLC filed trademarks for eight potential team names.

It appears David Tepper may have applied for potential Charlotte MLS team trademarks last week.

Those names:

All Carolina FC
Carolina Gliders FC
Charlotte FC
Charlotte Athletic FC
Charlotte Crown FC
Charlotte Fortune FC
Charlotte Monarchs FC
Charlotte Town FC

Six of the trademarked names use Charlotte as the geographic identifier, the other two go with Carolina.

The expansion franchise is expected to be officially announced by MLS next Tuesday, awarded to a group led by Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper (DT Soccer, LLC). The new Charlotte-based team will be the 30th team in the soccer league with teams located throughout Canada and the United States.
