Earlier this year, the Frisco Bowl announced a multi-year partnership with Tropical Smoothie Cafe to be the title sponsor of its annual college football bowl game held at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.
“Tropical Smoothie Cafe is thrilled to partner with the Frisco Bowl and ESPN Events to introduce college football fans to our wonderful selection of tasty smoothies and made-to-order wraps, flatbreads and sandwiches”, Tropical Smoothie Cafe chief marketing officer Rob Collins said when the partnership was announced in August. “We find that the spirit of college athletes —specifically dedication, a commitment to quality, and a will to win — are also found in our brand, franchisees and employees.”
Tropical Smoothie Cafe, which has nearly 800 locations nationwide, replaces DXL Men’s Apparel as the title sponsor of the Frisco Bowl. That partnership dated back to the inaugural game in 2017.
“We look forward to working with Tropical Smoothie Cafe to grow the bowl and provide a first-class experience for participating teams, fans and the community,” ESPN Senior Vice President of College Sports Programming and Events Pete Derzis said in the same press release.
The 2019 Tropical Smoothie Cafe Frisco Bowl pits Utah State (7-5 overall, 6-2 in the Mountain West) against Kent State (6-6 overall, 5-3 in the Mid-American Conference). Kickoff is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 20, at 7:30 p.m. ET.
