The Colorado Avalanche today unveiled the uniforms they’ll be wearing for the 2020 Stadium Series game and, well, they’re different.
Calling it a “glimpse into the future of hockey”, Colorado’s new Adidas Adizero jersey features a large white “A” across the entirety of the front of the jersey with a burgundy mountain design within it. The top half of the jersey is blue, the bottom is burgundy. Adidas is calling it the largest logo to ever appear on their Adizero jersey cut.
The jersey draws inspiration from the State of Colorado — the blue skies, white snow-capped mountains, and red rocks. The angular design is inspired by the Air Force Academy’s Cadet Chapel. The large crest and striping are “specially designed” to be more easily viewed in the stadium setting. Inside the back collar (not pictured) is a Colorado State Flag.
A design like this would suggest a top-to-bottom sublimated print, thanks to the detailed photos released today we can see that this is not the case. The three colours are separate, sewn together pieces, the bits of burgundy inside the mountain peak are sewn on as any traditional logo would be.
Colorado is hosting the 2020 NHL Stadium Series on February 15th against the Los Angeles Kings at the Air Force Academy’s Falcon Stadium. While the Kings uniform for the game has yet to be released we have seen a leaked version of theirs as well which you can check out here.
