With the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers earlier this week announcing what uniforms they’ll wear in Super Bowl LIV, we’ve decided to take a look back at Super Bowl uniform matchups of years past.
The template used below was inspired by an old keychain and features cartoon-style football players displaying the score of the first 53 Super Bowls. The AFL/AFC team is on the left, while the NFL/NFC team is on the right, regardless of who won the game or who was designated the home team.
It also shows that Kansas City will be wearing its home uniform — which consists of a red helmet, red jersey and white pants — in Super Bowl LIV. The Chiefs are 1-0 in this combination, as they defeated the Minnesota Vikings, 23-7, in Super Bowl IV.
San Francisco, meanwhile, will wear its road set in Miami. The 49ers are 2-0 in gold helmets, white jerseys and gold pants, defeating the Cincinnati Bengals, 26-21, in Super Bowl XVI and the Denver Broncos, 55-10, in Super Bowl XXIV.
Super Bowl LIV will mark the first postseason meeting between the Chiefs and 49ers. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 2 and will be broadcast by FOX.
