With this year’s All-Star Game now just a (surprisingly awesome) memory, the Indiana Pacers and the City of Indianapolis are on the clock as hosts of next year’s event.
As soon as the game ended Sunday night, the Pacers’ official Twitter account released a video that gave us all our first look at the logo for the 2021 NBA All-Star Game.
The graphic at the very top of the post is a screengrab direct from the unveiling video itself. The image directly above this paragraph is one I created based on the video. So, just a heads up, it may not be 100% (instead, merely 99%) accurate… I’m talking about the exact spacing between letters and such, the little things.
There was no explanation for the logo accompanied the video but you can go ahead and figure it out, it continues to use the NBA’s template that’s been around since 2018, below the wordmark is a blue and yellow shooting star with four blue streaking lines on either side of “Indianapolis”. These streaking lines are likely in reference to the longtime primary logo of the host Pacers.
Now that we’re in year four of the league’s templated logo system we can go ahead and safely predict the future of the All-Star Game logo, 2022 is in Cleveland, 2023 is in Utah. We already know the font they’ll use, and that the colours of the logo will just use what the host teams use, all that’s left to do is figure out what the design below the wordmark will be.
Yeah. There ya go. Something like that.
Anywho, the 2021 NBA All-Star Game will be played in Indianapolis on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2021.
