The Double-A Pensacola Blue Wahoos announced that they will wear powder blue uniforms for some games in 2020. The Blue Wahoos will pair their unique brand of bright pink—Rubine Red, to be exact—with the light blue popularized on the 1970s and ’80s road uniforms of teams like the Philadelphia Phillies, Montreal Expos, and the Blue Wahoos’ parent club, the Minnesota Twins.
The details of when and how often Pensacola will wear the powder blues are scarce. The extent of what we know so far is this from the Blue Wahoos on Twitter: “We’re putting a new blue in Blue Wahoos this season.”
For now, it’s enough to know that these uniforms exist and we’ll see them in 2020.
UPDATE: The Blue Wahoos tell us on Twitter: “Saturdays, Chris. These will be our Saturday home uniforms. Probably will see them some weekdays as well, as the players choose during the week.”
