The NBA’s re-start tips off in just over two weeks, with the continuation of the season approaching quickly we now know the uniform schedules for each of the 22 teams participating.
When the season paused on March 12th we lost a glorious home-and-home 1995 throwback series scheduled between the Toronto Raptors and Memphis Grizzlies. Or so we thought…
Because, yes! On August 9, 2020, the Raps and Grizz will indeed break out their expansion season throwback uniforms. This according to the NBA’s LockerVision site. Toronto is set to wear their giant raptor home whites, Memphis will be in their teal road Vancouver uniforms. Facing off together, looking incredible… in front of an empty arena at Disney World. Beggars can’t be choosers, I guess.
In total, we will see five games during this resumed season featuring at least one throwback uniform. Two games (including Raptors/Grizzlies) will be throwback vs. throwback.
On August 3rd, the Grizzlies will wear their Vancouver teal throwbacks against the New Orleans Pelicans, wearing their red “Pelicans” uniform.
Memphis will keep rolling with the teals for their next game two days later when they face the Utah Jazz on August 5th. Utah will also be wearing their ’90s throwbacks, purple uniforms with the large mountain logo across the front.
Utah wears those same throwbacks again on August 7th against San Antonio, the Spurs will be wearing their usual (home) whites.
August 9th is the already mentioned 1995 Canadian expansion bowl between Toronto and Memphis/Vancouver.
Finally, on August 12th the Houston Rockets will wear their ’90s back-to-back championship red uniforms against the Indiana Pacers with the Pacers in their usual navy blue (road) set.
We’ll also see a few “City Edition” uniforms during the re-start, two games will be City vs City — the Washington Wizards will wear their white “dc” design against the Oklahoma City Thunder memorial uniform to the 1995 OKC bombings on August 9th. The following day the Miami Heat wears their baby blue “Miami Vice” set against the Indiana Pacers and their vertically striped white uniform.
Typically there is information on the court design for each game included with this information. For now, the court graphics are missing but both the court design and bench towel designs are titled “NBA RESTART” which could suggest we’ll see a special (perhaps generic league-wide) NBA Restart court design.
Here’s the towel design labelled “NBA RESTART” that will be used by all teams while on the bench:
The NBA starts things off again on July 30th with the New Orleans Pelicans facing he Utah Jazz at 6:30pm ET.
