The Los Angeles Lakers, fresh off having their Classic Edition look leaked, face yet another early look at a new uniform for their upcoming 2020-21 season.
This time we’re seeing what I’m being told is the defending champs’ new “City Edition” look which continues the theme of throwing things back to the team’s early days.
Courtesy a Tweet from @BlakeTheLaker, who spotted and subsequently purchased this “shirsey” (a jersey in the shape and style of a t-shirt) at a Dick’s Sporting Goods outlet, we see the team will be wearing a white jersey with the familiar script from their logo across the front in blue trimmed in grey:
The player’s number, in this instance LeBron James’ #23, is grey with a blue drop shadow. Here’s a look at the front and the back:
As was the case with the Classic Edition throwback to the ’60s, we figure this uniform will be in honour of the 60th anniversary of the Minneapolis Lakers relocation to Los Angeles for the 1960-61 season. When the Lakers franchise predominently wore blue, they didn’t switch to purple (sorry, “Forum Blue”) and gold until the late 1960s.
