The Louisville football program will wear throwback uniform during Friday night’s game against Syracuse (7 p.m. ET on ESPN).
The throwback uniforms are modeled after what the Cardinals wore during the Johnny Unitas era (1951-54) and include a white helmet with a single red stripe down the middle and a paint job that mimics the shape and design of a leather helmet.
The red jerseys feature a traditional block number font and Northwestern stripes on the sleeves, as well as a special patch just below the back collar. That patch can be found on the right hip of the cream-colored pants, which include a single red stripe down both sides.
The look is complete with red socks that feature the Northwestern stripes and black cleats, as well as gloves that feature a retro-style Cardinal logo wearing a Block “L” sweater and doing the Heisman Trophy pose.
