Cincinnati Reds to Wear #8 Patch in Memory of Joe Morgan

The Cincinnati Reds today announced they would be wearing a memorial patch in 2021 in memory of Hall of Famer and two-time National League MVP Award winner Joe Morgan.

Cincinnati will wear a black circle with Morgan’s number 8 in white on the right sleeve of each of their jerseys throughout the upcoming 2021 season.

Morgan spent eight seasons with the Reds from 1972 through 1979. During his time in the Queen City, Morgan made the All-Star team every single season, won two MVPs, five Gold Gloves, and helped lead the Big Red Machine to Back-to-Back World Series titles in 1975 and 1976.

Morgan died last October at the age of 77.
