The Springfield Cardinals introduced three jerseys that they’ll wear on the field in 2021, including their traditional white, an alternate powder blue that will become a permanent fixture, and an all-new red jersey.
While baseball tradition would have the team wear “Cardinals” across the front of their home jerseys, the Double-A Springfield club uses “Springfield” at home to distinguish their uniforms from those of their parent club.
The new “Cardinal Red,” which evokes the Spring Training uniforms of the St. Louis Cardinals, will serve primarily as Springfield’s road jersey, with occasional appearances at home.
The “Victory Blue” jersey, which will be paired with white pants, will be worn at home and on the road. The team debuted this look as an alternate during the 2019 season and it was received so well they made it permanent.
“The Springfield Victory Blue uniform not only embraces the history of Cardinals baseball in Springfield, but it quickly became clear in 2019 when we debuted this design that this was a true fan favorite in both Springfield and throughout Cardinals Nation,” said Springfield Cardinals Vice President and General Manager Dan Reiter, quoted on the team’s website.
The Springfield Cardinals will trot out the new look May 4, when their season begins.
