Real Madrid has joined “forces” with Lucasfilm to produce a set of Star Wars-themed jerseys for the club’s basketball team, as well as some accessories.
The club started a countdown clock on their website on Star Wars Day, May 4, and when it reached zero on Friday, May 7, the line was unveiled. It includes two game jerseys — one light and one dark, appropriately — a reversible training top, and two T-shirts.
“Two sides facing off against each other, the strength of teamwork, constant training and dreaming of achieving the impossible. We saw clear synergies between the Star Wars™ universe and the competitive nature of basketball from the very beginning. This exclusive collection is made possible through a beautiful collaboration between Lucasfilm, adidas and Real Madrid,” the club’s website reads.
Real Madrid Baloncesto plays in the Liga Endesa, Spain’s top-flight basketball league, as well as the EuroLeague. The team will wear the Star Wars jerseys in “several” Liga Endesa games this season.
