PSG takes inspiration from its home city, AC Milan takes inspiration from other cities, Premier League sides Burnley and Leeds unveil home kits and two French Ligue 1 sides complete their 2021-22 sets in today’s roundup of European club football kit releases …
PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN – Away
After releasing their basketball-inspired, Jordan-branded home kits in May, French Ligue 1 powerhouses Paris Saint-Germain are back with a predominantly white away kit for 2021-22. It features a black vertical stripe down the front of the jersey, with a broad pink (“Arctic Punch,” as Nike calls it) stripe to the left side above the black sponsor logo and to the right side below the sponsor. The left sleeve cuff is black while the right one is pink. The crew neck collar is solid white.
AC MILAN – Away
Italian Serie A side AC Milan also unveiled their 2021-22 away kit this week after releasing a home kit in May. Made by Puma, the shirt is mainly a shade of light gold dubbed “Afterglow.” The sponsor logo, sleeve cuffs and shoulder stripes are all red, while Puma logos appear in black.
The body of the shirt contains a tonal pattern inspired by the maps of six cities around the world: Kolkata, India; Melbourne, Australia; Nairobi, Kenya; New York City; Rio de Janeiro; and, of course, Milan. The shirt celebrates the work of the club’s charitable arm, Fondazione Milan — the foundation logo is included on the back collar — and AC Milan fans will be able to vote for the foundation to support one of six proposals, one from each aforementioned city.
BURNLEY FC – Home
English Premier League side Burnley FC are putting a modern twist on their traditional claret and blue home kits for 2021-22, made by Umbro. The body is solid claret, but the blue sleeves feature a pattern of tonal lines. The collar is solid claret, while the Umbro logo on the chest is blue. Burnley has a new main shirt sponsor in betting company Spreadex Sports, whose logo appears in white.
LEEDS UNITED – Home
Leeds United are once again in all white at home for the 2021-22 season, their second in their latest spell in England’s Premier League. The shirts, made by adidas, are solid white, including the thick henley collar and sleeve cuffs, with yellow adidas shoulder stripes, a navy blue adidas logo, and the logo of sponsor SBOTOP, a sports betting company, in navy and yellow.
ANGERS SCO – Third
It’s been an offseason of change for French Ligue 1 side Angers SCO. In May, the club unveiled a new crest, and a few days later, they released their home and away kits for 2021-22, made by Kappa. Now they’re back with a third kit for the new season. It’s predominantly a pinkish-orange shade, with tan accents such as the sponsor logo, Kappa logo and monochromatic club crest. The front of the jersey features of pattern of fleurs-de-lis taken from the club crest connected by thin tan lines. The crew neck collar is tan and orange, and the sleeve cuffs have tan trim.
STADE BRESTOIS – Home, Away & Third
Angers’s Ligue 1 counterparts Stade Brestois have teamed up with adidas for their 2021-22 kits. The home kit is solid red, and the crew neck collar and sleeve cuffs are white with red trim. Manufacturer and sponsor logos are in white.
Stade Brestois’s away kit does more to evoke the team’s nickname, Les Pirates. It is black with grey horizontal stripes down the front. The club crest is monochromatic white, with two swords crossed underneath. The collar and cuffs are white with grey trim, and sponsor and manufacturer logos are white.
The third kit flips the script on the home kit, with a white base, red trim and red sponsor and manufacturer logos.
