The Nebraska football program will wear camouflage alternate uniforms against Buffalo this season to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States.
The all-white uniforms feature a stylized red number font and sublimated camouflage accents throughout, as well as a two silver stripes on the sleeves and down the sides of the pants – presumably as a nod to the twin towers of the World Trade Center.
The traditional white helmet swaps the Cornhuskers’ red facemask for gray and prominently displays an interlocking “NU,” which was used by the program from 1956-69, on the sides.
The uniforms were modeled by Nebraska junior linebacker and former Navy SEAL Damian Jackson, while the associated video included several veterans and first responders.
Kickoff for the Cornhuskers’ game against the Bulls on Sept. 11 is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on BTN.
