The St. Louis Blues will soon join their 2022 Winter Classic cousin Minnesota Wild in unveiling their uniforms for the annual outdoor game.
St. Louis announced today that they will reveal the fauxback-themed sweater this Friday, September 10th at Busch Stadium prior to the Cardinals game against the Cincinnati Reds, the game is scheduled for a 7:15pm CT first pitch (8:15pm ET).
To whet our appetites a bit (and again to borrow a page from the Wild’s Winter Classic playbook) the team released a couple of teaser images giving us a VERY small glimpse of the jersey.
So, the jersey will have blue and yellow stripes. Which, doesn’t reveal much… unless that yellow stripe in image one is actually the base layer of the jersey, in which case, alright, that’s interesting. The second image looks like it could simply be an extreme closeup of the team’s Bluenote logo on an angle.
Blues captain Ryan O’Reilly later added this teaser quote, posted by the team’s Twitter account on Friday morning, “It’s sharp, and it fits right in with the history of the city and our team. The fans are going to be very excited about this.”
Blues forward David Perron added, “I’m excited for fans to see them. I think they will go to the store and buy a lot of them because they’re pretty cool looking in person.”
Minnesota revealed their 2022 Winter Classic uniform this past Saturday, a dark green set with red and vintage white horizontal striping. You can read all about that jersey here.
The 2022 Winter Classic will be held outdoors on New Year’s Day at Target Field in Minneapolis.
