Italian Serie A side Inter Milan are leaning on their club’s founding values of inclusion and equality for their 2021-22 third kit, made by Nike.
Unveiled on Tuesday, Sept. 14 — the eve of their first group stage match in the UEFA Champions League against Real Madrid — Inter’s kit is mainly black, with diagonal blocks of color (green, yellow, blue and orange) forming a band across the chest. These colors represent “the acceptance of diversity and elimination of all forms of discrimination,” according to the club’s website.
Printed inside the collar is the slogan “Brothers and Sisters of the World,” which reinforces the theme of unity and inclusion.
The back of the shirt is solid black, as is the polo collar. Different elements of the Inter Milan crest and Nike logo are different colors in different places across the kit. On the chest, the “IM” portion of the crest is green, the outer circle of the crest is blue, the star above the crest is yellow, and the Nike swoosh is orange.
The diagonal blocks are inspired by an away kit Inter wore from 1989 to 1991. That design, by Uhlsport, featured light blue and dark blue blocks on a white base.
