The Auburn football program has made a slight modification to its uniforms ahead of Saturday’s “White Out” game at Penn State, swapping the traditional navy blue facemask on its helmet for white.
According to our friend Clint Richardson of the Auburn Uniform Database, marks the first uniform alternation for the Tigers since they wore a No. 7 decal on the sides of their helmets and a gray facemask for the 2020 Outback Bowl against Minnesota in honor of late quarterback and 1971 Heisman Trophy winner Pat Sullivan.
That’s actually one of just two games since 1984 that Auburn did not wear a navy blue facemask, joining the 50th anniversary of the 1957 national championship in 2007, when the Tigers removed the “AU” decals from their helmets and donned a gray facemask for the win over Vanderbilt.
Kickoff for Saturday’s game in Happy Valley is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
