The Philadelphia Eagles announced this week that they’ll be wearing black pants with white jerseys for Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos (4:25 p.m. ET on CBS).
This marks the first time in franchise history that the Eagles will don this uniform combination, as black pants were added as an option in 2014 and have only been worn with black jerseys in the years since.
Philadelphia typically wears white or midnight green pants with its white jersey. However, a conversation between passing game coordinator Kevin Patullo and wide receiver DeVonta Smith earlier this season is what sparked the change, as seen in the announcement video above.
Perhaps it won’t be long before we see Smith’s suggestion of all-midnight green, which was last worn in 34-21 win over Washington in 2002 and debuted in a 24-12 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in 1997.
