The uniform schedule for the upcoming 2022 NBA Finals between the Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors has been released by the NBA.
It shows a mix of traditional home vs road (“Icon” vs “Association”) games with a few matches featuring one of either team’s black alternate uniforms.
Take a look, and, as always, this could change if either team decides to go with something else at the last minute:
As you can see, we’ve got “home” vs “road” for Games 1 and 2 as well as two potential clinchers in Games 6 and 7. The Golden State Warriors could win the championship while wearing their black “City” set if they manage to pull off a sweep, while the Celtics could win while wearing black if they can knock off the Warriors in five — both of those scenarios would be road wins for these teams.

Despite these being two original NBA franchises (a fitting final for the league’s 75th anniversary season), the Celtics and Warriors have only met in one previous NBA Final when Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell battled back in 1964. The Celtics, who were in their 8th straight NBA Final that season, would go on to beat the then-named San Francisco Warriors in five games.
Throughout the 2021-22 regular season, the Warriors and Celtics met twice, and both times the Warriors opted to wear their “Classic Edition” throwback set featuring a design similar to what the Warriors wore during that ’64 Final. Boston played along wearing their own throwbacks for the first of those two meetings before switching to their modern-day whites (which, let’s be honest, are classics themselves) for their final meeting.
The 2022 NBA Finals will get underway on Thursday, June 2 with the Boston Celtics travelling to San Francisco to face the Golden State Warriors. If it were to go the distance, a game seven would be held in San Francisco on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 19.
