Villanova To Wear 1970-71 Throwback Uniforms Against UConn

The Villanova men’s basketball program will wear throwback uniforms today’s against UConn that pay homage to the 1970-71 NCAA runners-up.

The Wildcats finished that regular season at 23-6 before making a run to the national title game, where they fell to four-time defending champion UCLA.

Forward Howard Porter was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player, but his decision to sign with an agent beforehand ultimately forced the Villanova to vacate its runner-up finish.

As for the white throwback uniforms – which the Wildcats first wore in a win over Kansas during their 100th season in 2019-20 – they feature an arched Villanova wordmark across the chest and numbers below that, both of which are blue with a gold outline.

There’s also a retro-style striping pattern on the collar, arm holes and waistband, as well as down the sides and around the bottom of the shorts, mimicking what the program wore back in 1970-71.

The Wildcats are 16-6 overall and 9-3 in the Big East. Tipoff for thie game agains the Huskies is set for noon ET on FOX.
