Four More MLS Clubs Unveil New Kits for 2022 on Saturday

The week-long spate of Major League Soccer kit unveilings drew to a close on Saturday as the last four teams to reveal their new jerseys for 2022 did so.

Let’s take a closer look at Saturday’s unveilings …

ATLANTA UNITED – Away

Atlanta United pays homage to its hometown’s lush greenery and parks with its new away jersey for 2022, dubbed the “Forest Kit.” The jersey is primarily mint green, with dark green accents such as the sponsor logos, shoulder stripes, crew neck collar and sleeve cuffs. The club crest is also rendered in two-tone green.

A geometric pattern on the front of the jersey symbolizes Atlanta’s treeline, according to the club, but Adidas has used similar patterns since the late 1980s and early 1990s. The back collar sports an “ATL” graphic with a crown over the T, while “CITY IN THE FOREST” is printed on the neck tape. Photos on the club website show the shirt paired with white shorts and mint green socks, both with dark green accents.

COLUMBUS CREW SC – Away

Columbus Crew are looking to set a new gold standard in MLS with their 2022 home kit. The club returns to yellow as a home base colour, with their “isometric checkerboard” pattern embossed on the front and sleeves. The club’s much-fought-over new crest appears on the left chest, while the Adidas logo, shoulder stripes, sponsor logos, crew neck collar and sleeve cuffs are all black. A “CREW 96” logo appears on the back collar, while the jock tag (inset below) features an outline of the state of Ohio filled in with the isometric checkerboard pattern.

INTER MIAMI – Away

The devil’s in the details of Inter Miami’s 2022 home kit. Going with pink as the base for the first time in club history, the “Heartbeat Kit” features a pink polo collar and black accents, such as the Adidas logo, shoulder stripes, and sponsor logos on the front and sleeves.

The jock tag features a graphic resembling an electrocardiogram readout and forming an M inside a black square. Further playing into the “heartbeat” theme is the same pattern embossed on the sleeve cuffs. The back collar features the slogan “Libertad Para Soñar” (“Freedom to Dream”) in a script font directly lifted from one of part-owner David Beckham’s tattoos.

TORONTO FC – Away

Toronto FC are uniting club and culture with their 2022 away kit. The shirt features a white-and-silver half-and-half split on the front, with the sleeves contrasting on their respective sides. The crew neck collar and sleeve cuffs are both solid black, as are the Adidas logo, shoulder stripes and sponsor logos. The club crest appears in full colour, and “COME ON YOU REDS” is printed on the neck tape.
