USL W League side Minnesota Aurora FC is hoping to shine bright in their newly unveiled kits during their upcoming inaugural season.
The community-owned club unveiled the kits at an event on Saturday, April 9, at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota. The kits are manufactured by Danish sportswear company Hummel and were designed by Cassidy Sepnieski, a graphic designer who has worked with other U.S. soccer clubs, including Forward Madison FC of USL League One.
The home kit, also known as the “Northern Lights Kit,” brings the Northern Lights motif from the club’s crest to the front of the shirt. The base is dark blue, with teal gradient stripes swooping across and white stars dotting the night sky.
A “flash red” star, like the one found in the crest, appears on the back collar. Red pinstripes run around each sleeve, interrupted only by an “AURORA” wordmark.
The away kit, or “Constellation Kit,” brings teal to the forefront. The front of the shirt contains a pattern of white stars connected vertically and diagonally with white pinstripes. The raglan sleeves are a darker shade of teal.
A white pinstripe runs around each sleeve cuff, interrupted by a white star. And a wordmark with the full club name appears on the back collar.
The base of the goalkeeper kit is “flash red,” with the same constellation pattern on the front as the away kit, only this time rendered tonally. The collar is dark blue, as is the pinstripe around the cuff, which in this case is interrupted by three dark blue stars.
“Getting to bring these inaugural kits to life has truly been an honor and a privilege,” Sepnieski said on the club’s website. “I was immensely inspired by the community owners and the passion surrounding the club — on top of the beauty of Minnesota. I wanted to design something that reflected the interconnectedness of the club while upholding the incredible visual identity that other female designers have created.”
