Spanish giants Real Madrid are likely bringing back purple as the main accent colour for their 2022-23 home kits, if photos surfacing on the Internet are accurate.
Photos posted to the @jerseyreview Instagram account seem to confirm some earlier leaks, and show Real’s traditional white home shirt accented with purple Adidas shoulder stripes.
The leaked photos also show an embossed pattern on the front and sleeves of the shirt, consisting of vertical stripes of varying widths and Real Madrid crests.
The Adidas logo and sponsor logo are black, while the sleeves cuffs are solid white. The polo collar is white with purple and black trim.
While Real’s home kits always feature a white base, the trim colour does change from year to year. Purple trim has been used a few times in recent seasons, including 2016-17, 2010-11 and 2006-07. It was regularly used as an accent colour throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
Other recent trim colours have included royal blue, pink, gold, black, teal and silver.
