The Marshall football program recently announced it is seeking input from fans regarding the design of the new turf that will be installed at Joan C. Edwards Stadium this summer.
There are three options, all of which feature the Thundering Herd’s alternate logo at midfield and Sun Belt Conference marks at opposing 25-yard lines, as the program is leaving Conference USA at the end of the academic year.
The turf will be a traditional green color while the differences can be found in the end zones, as one has a black background, one has a gray background and one has Kelly Green background.
The colors of the Marshall wordmark in both end zones change based on the background, with a white white workmark outlined in Kelly green on the black background, a Kelly green wordmark outlined in black on the gray background and a white wordmark outlined in black on the Kelly green background.
The Thundering Herd are asking fans to retweet and like their favorite designs on social media or share their input at a booth that will be set up at their spring game at the Chris Cline Indoor Athletics Complex at 3 p.m. this Saturday.
The new turf will make its debut when Marshall takes on Norfolk State on Sept. 3. Other home opponents this fall include Gardner-Webb, Louisiana-Lafayette, Coastal Carolina, Appalachian State and Georgia State.
The Thundering Herd last replaced their turf in 2014. It was nearly identical to the new option with green end zones, only it had Conference USA logos on the 25-yard lines, as shown at the top of this post.
