Liverpool FC Unveils ‘Bold, No-Nonsense’ Home Kit for 2022-23

English Premier League side Liverpool FC are keeping it simple with their home kits for the 2022-23 season.

The kits were unveiled on Liverpool’s website on Thursday, May 5. The club says the “bold, no-nonsense design” is “inspired by the attitude of ‘Scouse solidarity.'”

The jersey is solid red, with Nike’s latest Dri-Fit ADV knit pattern across the front and back. One of the few embellishments is a “YNWA” (for the club anthem “You’ll Never Walk Alone”) monogram woven into the sleeve cuffs. This represents “the resilient bond between the fans and the club,” according to the announcement.

“We know exactly what this jersey means to our fans, and we can’t wait to run out in it at Anfield.”

A darker red insert on the back collar frames an updated emblem memorializing the victims of the Hillsborough Disaster in 1989. The number between the eternal flames has been changed from 96 to 97 after Andrew Devine died in July 2021 as a result of injuries sustained in the incident.

The shorts that go with the jersey are solid red, again with Nike’s latest Dri-Fit ADV knit pattern. The socks are solid red with a dark red cuff, and feature “LFC” and a Nike swoosh in white on the front.

Also on Thursday, Liverpool unveiled a new name and number font for cup competitions and friendlies. The font takes inspiration from the city of Liverpool, specifically the historic street signs. The printing will be done with water-based inks.

The jersey is now available for pre-order through Liverpool’s online store. A line of home training and lifestyle gear will be released on Thursday, May 19.

UPDATE (11:21 am MT): Images have also surfaced online of Liverpool’s home goalkeeper kit for 2022-23. It looks to be predominantly light purple, with slightly darker blocks following the lines of the new Nike Dri-Fit ADV template. Goalkeeper Alisson Becker is seen wearing the kit in the image below:
