Italian Serie A side AS Roma are blending the old and the new with their home kit for the 2022-23 season.
Unveiled on Thursday, May 12, the jersey — manufactured by New Balance — retains AS Roma’s classic dark red and yellow colour scheme, but adds a twist with a tonal half-and-half pattern. Across the front of the jersey is another pattern of lines and dots connecting circular “ASR” crests that the club wore in the 1930s and 1950s.
The one-button grandad collar is red with yellow trim. The broad sleeve cuffs are also red, with a yellow stripe. The back of the jersey is solid red and features the slogan “FIGLI DI ROMA” (“Sons of Rome”) printed on the back collar, with the club’s classic Lupetto crest standing in for the O in “ROMA.”
“Every detail of this shirt tells the story of our team’s unbreakable bond with the city of Rome. That’s why it will be even more exciting to wear it on the field.”
— Lorenzo Pellegrini, AS Roma captain
The shorts are solid red with a yellow New Balance logo. The socks are not yet for sale on AS Roma’s online shop, but some of the promotional photos released Thursday appeared to show solid red socks with “ROMA” written in yellow on the front.
AS Roma’s men’s team will wear the new kits for the first time when they take on Venezia FC in their final home match of the 2021-22 Serie A season on Saturday, May 14.
