With just over one month until a champion is crowned, the USFL has unveiled the logo for its inaugural championship game.
Naturally, the silver championship trophy is at the forefront of the logo. It features a USFL-branded football on top of a vertical stand that uses the same flag pattern as the league’s logo – with stars on the upper half and stripes on the lower half.
The rest of the logo is pretty self-explanatory, with “2022” flanking the trophy and the USFL logo and championship designation at the base. Interestingly, the year resembles the number font on the NFL’s Pro Bowl uniforms in 2009 and 2010, as well as the font currently worn by the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies.
That said, the undefeated Birmingham Stallions and the 6-1 New Jersey Generals have already punched their tickets to the four-team playoff, which will take place at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio.
The top two teams in the North and South Divisions will play against each other on June 25, with the 4-3 Philadelphia Stars and the 5-2 New Orleans Breakers currently on track to secure their spots in the playoff with three weeks remaining in the regular season.
The winners will then meet for the title on July 3, with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on FOX. It’s unclear at this time if the teams will wear the championship logo as a patch, however.
