Three Premier League Clubs Highlight Recent 2022-23 Kit Unveilings

The busy season continues for kit unveilings in Europe’s top club leagues. Over the past few days, five clubs have launched new jerseys, including three from the English Premier League, plus one each from Spain’s La Liga and France’s Ligue 1.

Let’s take a closer look at the new shirts that will be hitting shelves and the pitch soon …

NEWCASTLE UNITED – Home

Premier League side Newcastle United are celebrating their 130th anniversary with their 2022-23 home kits. The club’s iconic black-and-white stripes combine with “modern touches” on the shirt, manufactured by Castore. The crew neck collar and sleeve cuffs are white, with thin black stripes running through the center. Sponsor logos appear in light blue.

WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS – Home

Another Premier League side outfitted by Castore, Wolverhampton Wanderers, also released their home kits for 2022-23 this week. The shirt is Wolves’ signature shade of amber, with a black insert at the front of the V-neck collar and black stripes tapering off along the shoulders. The sleeve cuffs have black and white trim on the inside halves, and a solid black block runs along the back hem. Global digital wallet company AstroPay takes over as the front-of-shirt sponsor.

WEST HAM UNITED – Home

While Newcastle and Wolves stayed fairly true to their usual motifs, West Ham United have gone in a direction that may rankle traditionalists. The club’s 2022-23 home kits, made by Umbro, feature a claret base with white and light blue stripes with a crosshatch pattern over each shoulder. The look is inpsired by the kit worn in 1992-93, when West Ham earned promotion to the newly formed Premier League for the first time. The sleeve cuffs are light blue, and the once-color club crest is also rendered in light blue. The crew neck collar is blue in the front and white in the back.

OLYMPIQUE LYONNAIS – Home

French Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais debuted their new home kit for 2022-23 on Thursday, June 9, the same say they announced the return of striker Alexandre Lacazette to the club. The kit is white with a red-and-blue vertical stripe down the centre; the stripe also includes a tonal gradient chevron pattern. The Adidas shoulder stripes go red-blue-red, while the crew neck collar and sleeve cuffs are white.

GETAFE CF – Home, Away and Third

Spanish La Liga side Getafe CF unveiled all three of their 2022-23 kits, made by Joma, on Wednesday, June 8. All three use the same template, with solid blocks of colour and stripes on both the V-neck collar and sleeve cuffs. All three jerseys also have an embossed pattern of airplanes taken from the club crest. The home kit is blue with neon green accents; the away kit is red with blue accents, and the third kit is a reverse of the home, neon green with blue accents.
