Like the sun on their flag, Argentina’s national soccer teams are hoping to shine bright in their new home kits.
The kits, made by Adidas, were unveiled on Friday, July 7. They are the kits that the Argentinian men’s team will wear this winter when they take part in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. But before that, the women’s national team will wear them in the 2022 CONMEBOL Copa América Femenina, which starts on July 8 in Colombia.
The new kits maintain Argentina’s traditional home look of sky blue and white vertical stripes. The raglan sleeves are white, and the collar trim, sleeve cuffs and Adidas shoulder stripes are all black. A black stripe also runs down each side of the jersey. An embossed pattern of short irregular diagonal lines covers almost all of the jersey.
The blue vertical stripes extend to the back as well. But, as can be seen in a couple of quick shots in the video below, the middle stripe on the back is divided into two narrower stripes. A sun emblem adorns the back collar.
Argentina’s jersey also features a new name and number font. In the past, Adidas has used the same name and number font across all the teams it outfits at major tournaments, so we can expect to see more of this font in Qatar.
The jersey is paired with black shorts with white Adidas stripes and sky blue stripes around the back hem, as well as white socks with a gold AFA monogram and sky blue cuffs that contain white Adidas stripes.
Argentina’s new kits are also the first to feature Adidas’s new logo. it hasn’t changed much, but only the three-stripe logo appears on the chest, without the word “adidas” underneath.
