This morning, Major League Baseball and Nike officially unveiled the uniforms baseball’s best players will be wearing next week during the 2022 All-Star Game at Dodger Stadium.
As was the case last season, players will NOT be wearing their usual team uniforms during the game. That practice, which spanned just about the nine-decade run of Major League Baseball All-Star Games, stopped following the 2019 All-Star Game in Cleveland. Replaced with league-specific designs with room to allow acknowledgement of the team for which these players currently play.

This year’s designs have an overall golden theme, “inspired by the fame and fortune of the ‘City of Angels’,” says the release from Nike.
All National League jerseys will be white (as they are the home side), while the American League teams will wear dark grey. Individual team jersey wordmarks are laid out across the chest of each player — with NL clubs wearing their usual home jersey logos and AL teams with their roads. These logos are all recoloured gold and trimmed with a thin black line — the idea of this design is “drawn from the gold sheen of Hollywood award shows.” The 2022 All-Star Game logo is on the right sleeve, with a star patch on the left.
On the back of the jersey, player names and numbers are, like the logos on the front, gold and trimmed with black and appear to use a standard block font rather than each team’s unique player name or numbering style. The MLB “Batterman” silhouette logo is black/gold/black. Pant colours will match those of each league’s jersey base colour.

Now, a look at every team’s design, starting with the American League:
And now the National League:
Moving on to the caps for the game, which were previously released back in June, they’re all black (regardless of the league) with the team’s usual cap logo on the front of the crown in gold with a single gold star off to the side. The back half of the cap is mesh, or “trucker style,” with a 2022 All-Star Game logo patch on the right side.
Take a look:
And now at the entire league:
I love what the Oakland A’s did with their star there.

Players will, of course, wear unique socks for the game too. The AL and NL players will have the same design from Stance, a black (or dark grey) sock with three white horizontal stripes and the 2022 All-Star Game logo in gold on the front.
For the All-Star Workout events before the main event (such as Home Run Derby and All-Star Practice), players will wear caps (still mesh-backed, trucker-style) designed to appear more like their usual regular season cap designs. Set to be paired with each player’s usual team uniform. Here they are:
The Home Run Derby also gets its own socks, because… why not?
The 2022 MLB All-Star Game logo is a direct copy of the one unveiled initially for the 2020 game (scrapped due to the COVID-19 pandemic), just with the last 0 in the year swapped out for a 2. It shows the hexagon shape of Dodger Stadium’s famous scoreboard with a Hollywood-esque style typeface across it.
“We really wanted to capture the idea or essence of the golden age of Hollywood,” Major League Baseball’s (now retired) Vice President of Design Services, Anne Occi, told SportsLogos.Net back in July 2019. “We wanted to get the fact that so much goes on there and that it’s so prestigious to be there.”
Across the front of the logo is an “ALL*STAR GAME” wordmark in a white deco font with gold elements helping push it into a third dimension, the year of the event is placed below with the Dodgers’ famous “LA” cap logo above doubling as both a nod to the host team and the host city all in one handy icon. Adding emphasis to the gold elements are two glints on the gold trim around the large star in the middle.
“There’s a lot of glitz going on here,” Occi added at the time. “It’s in a special way, though; I don’t think it’s gaudy, I don’t think it’s overdone. It’s just the rim of everything being presented, but it gives us that opportunity to have things shine.”
Perhaps what stands out the most on the logo is the little red six-pointed star between “ALL” and “STAR” on the primary wordmark; aside from the MLB logo, it’s the only red featured in the logo. This is an intentional little nod to the uniform of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
“On the front of the Dodgers jersey, you have this signature red number all on its own, and we were able to take this star and make it something that was a little bit of an iconic stir to the colour in the logo.”
