Italian Serie A giants Juventus are looking to capture some magic — and some trophies — in their new away jerseys for 2022-23, made by Adidas.
The jerseys were unveiled on Thursday, July 21, and will be worn for the first time on Friday, July 22, when Juventus takes on Liga MX side CD Guadalajara at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
The kits are predominantly black and, according to the club, aim to capture “the magic of night matches.” All over the shirt is a tonal pattern of jagged lines roughly forming vertical stripes.
“A symbol of magic that represents the history of the Club, the star has been woven into all Juventus jerseys this season,” reads the announcement on Juventus’s website. “In this jersey, the star is reimagined in a bold yet subtle way as a carbon-colored starburst graphic is engineered into the fabric, shimmering in contrast to the black base colour.”
The sleeve cuffs and V-neck collar are solid black with white trim. The Adidas logo, Adidas shoulder stripes and club crest appear in white. The logo for sponsor Jeep has lightning bolts through it, likely a reference to their line of electric vehicles.
SS LAZIO – Third
Juventus’s Serie A rivals SS Lazio aim to imbue their players with the fighting spirit of ancient Roman soldiers with their 2022-23 third kit, made by Mizuno. The predominantly white kit features an embossed mosaic pattern of interlocking hexagons, which, according to the club’s Twitter account, is “reminiscent of ancient Rome, to give our players the strength of warriors 💪”. The club crest fades from light to dark blue, as do stripes that run along the shoulders. The sleeves are solid dark blue, as is the insert at the front of the collar.
RB LEIPZIG – Home
German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig are going abstract with their home kit for 2022-23. The kit uses Nike’s new Vaporknit template, with its uniquely shaped collar inserts at the front and back in red. The body of the kit has a white base, onto a grey and red abstract graphic is printed all over. According to the club, “our brand identity – the Red Bull – has undergone a new and futuristic interpretation and been integrated into the shirt as a red and grey pattern using a bespoke design.”
WERDER BREMEN – Away
Fellow Bundesliga side Werder Bremen are “doing our thing, which means being courageous and innovative” with their 2022-23 away kit, made by Umbro. The kit is a solid peach colour, with green stripes the sleeve cuffs. The Umbro logo is embroidered in green on the right chest, while the club crest appears on the left chest.
CRYSTAL PALACE – Third
With home and away kits already released featuring marker strokes, English Premier League side Crystal Palace completed their 2022-23 set by releasing their third kit, made by Macron, on Thursday, July 21. This time, the blue and red marker strokes form a sash across the front of the solid black base. The crew neck collar and sleeve cuffs are white with thin red and blue stripes. The Macron and sponsor logos are printed in white.
AS MONACO – Away
French Ligue 1 side AS Monaco are activating dark mode for their 2022-23 away kits, made by Kappa. The jerseys are almost completely black, with white trim around the sleeve cuffs and hem. The black side panels (right below) contain the team slogan of “RISE. RISK. REPEAT.” running diagonally in carbon grey; this is similar to the effect on the front of the club’s 2022-23 home kit, although less pronounced. Sponsor logos and the club crest are applied in one-colour white.
RCD MALLORCA – Away
Spanish La Liga side RCD Mallorca launched their 2022-23 away kits, made by Nike, on their social media channels with little fanfare on Thursday, July 21. The body of the shirt is black with a tonal pattern of triangles all over. The sleeves are solid grey, while the solid black polo collar features one red button. Red stripes run down the sides of the shirt. Sponsor logos and the Nike logo are red.
FENERBAHÇE – Home, Away and Third
On the eve of the start of the UEFA Champions League qualifying round, perennial Turkish Süper Lig contenders Fenerbahçe rolled out all three of their new kits for 2022-23, made by Puma. The home kit features the club’s traditional yellow and navy blue vertical stripes, this time separated by narrow white stripes. The stripes continue on the sleeves, forming hoops by the time they reach the sleeve cuffs. The crew neck collar is navy blue, as is a panel on the back for name and number legibility.
The away kit is a tribute to the club’s nickname, Sari Kanaryalar (Yellow Canaries). It features a pattern of yellow feathers on a pale yellow base. The sleeve cuffs and inserts at the front and back of the collar are navy blue.
The third kit is navy blue with a tonal checkerboard pattern all over. Inserts at the front and back of the collar are yellow, while the Puma logos, sponsor logos and club crest all appear in one-colour grey applications.
