Napoli Home and Away Kits Highlight Recent Unveilings from Around Europe

Italian Serie A side SSC Napoli won’t be fading into the background thanks to their new home and away kits for 2022-23.

The kits, made by Emporio Armani, were unveiled on Wednesday, July 27, and both feature raglan sleeves that fade in steps as you move from the shoulder to the cuff.

The body of the home kit is Napoli’s signature shade of light blue, with miniature club crest embossed all over the front and back. The sleeves start dark blue at the shoulder and gradually get lighter toward the cuff. The crew neck collar is dark blue and has a notch at the back. Most of the sponsor logos appear in white, except for that of Italian sparkling water company Lete, which is red. “SSCN” is printed in white with a dark blue outline on the back collar.

On the away kit, the sleeves start light blue at the shoulders and fade to white at the cuffs. The body flips from light blue to white, but the embossed miniature club crests remain. The collar is white, and most sponsor logos are dark blue.

Napoli also released two goalkeeper kits on Wednesday, both of which feature diagonal tonal lines across the front and sleeves. This could be a hint to further kit designs for outfield players this season. In 2021-22, Napoli released a goalkeeper kit with a flame motif near the start of the season; that motif was later recoloured and worn by outfield players as a third kit.

In 2021-22, Napoli wore 13 different outfield kits, including special jerseys for Halloween, a whole set with gold accents for Europa League games, and four different kits honouring club legend Diego Maradona. Club owner Aurelio De Laurentiis said in a radio interview last week that we could see the club wear that many kits again this year.

AFC BOURNEMOUTH – Away

Premier League side AFC Bournemouth look like they’re ready for a tropical holiday with their 2022-23 away kits, made by Umbro. The purple, cyan and pink pattern on the front of the shirt is inspired by the palm trees on Bournemouth’s iconic seafront. The collar and sleeves are solid light purple. Sponsor logos and the club crest appear in one-colour white applications.

UDINESE CALCIO – Away

While they traditionally wear black and white stripes at home, Italian Serie A side Udinese is cranking up the volume with their 2022-23 away kits, made by Macron. The kits are predominantly neon yellow, with black detailing on the collar, shoulder, sides and sleeve cuffs. The shirt features an embossed geometric pattern, “offering a unique optical effect and textured look.” A one-colour black version of club crest sits on the left chest.

This kit being designated as an away kit means the orange kits Udinese wore in a preseason friendly a couple of weeks ago are their third kits for 2022-23.

RC LENS – Third

French Ligue 1 side RC Lens are keeping it classy with their third kit for 2022-23, made by Puma. The kit combines a clean white base with a red and yellow sash running diagonally across the front and under the club crest. The crew neck collar is red, while the sleeve cuffs are yellow.

TOULOUSE FC – Away

In their first season in Ligue 1, Toulouse FC will take the vibrancy of their home city on the road with them thanks to their 2022-23 away kits, made by Craft. The shirt is mostly black, but a line drawing of the Toulouse skyline runs across the chest in a gradient that moves from yellow to red to purple. The trim on the right sleeve cuff and the Craft logo are yellow, while the club crest and the left sleeve cuff trim are purple. The gradient is also matched in the front-of-shirt sponsor’s logo.

STADE BRESTOIS 29 – Home

Ligue 1 side Stade Brestois 29 hope they’re on the path to success with their home kits for 2022-23, made by Adidas. The body of the red shirt features a pattern of tonal rectangles. The raglan sleeves are solid red with white Adidas shoulder stripes, and the V-neck collar is white. Sponsor logos appear in white on the front of the shirt, as does the silhouette of a sailboat in the lower right corner.

MONTPELLIER HSC – Away

Ligue 1 side Montpellier HSC’s media day gave us the first look at their away kits for 2022-23, made by Nike. Like their third kits, the template for the away kits is fairly simple, with a solid white body, including the V-neck collar, and solid red sleeve. Sponsor logos and the club crest appear in one-colour black applications.

RC STRASBOURG ALSACE – Away and Third

Ligue 1 side RC Strasbourg Alsace unveiled both their away and third kits for 2022-23, made by Adidas, last week. The away kit is mostly white, with blue vertical pinstripes down the front. Blue shoulder panels envelop the white Adidas shoulder stripes. The V-neck collar is blue with black trim.

The third kit, meanwhile, is predominantly black, with a subtle blue zigzag pattern running down the front. The raglan sleeve and V-neck collar are black, while the Adidas shoulder stripes and piping around the collar are blue.

CLERMONT FOOT 63 – Home, Away and Third

For their second season in Ligue 1, Clermont Foot 63 has switched uniform suppliers, going with Uhlsport for 2022-23. Their home kit is predominantly red, with royal blue and tonal red streaks running diagonally across the front. The raglan sleeves are red, with a blue shape depicting the local landscape wrapping around each sleeve cuff. The V-neck collar is also blue.

Meanwhile, Clermont’s away kit features a solid blue body and darker blue raglan sleeves. The same shape from the home kit appears on the sleeve cuffs, this time in red. The V-neck collar matches the darker blue shade of the sleeves.

Clermont’s third kit is grey with a heather pattern all over the front and back. The sleeves feature a tonal geometric pattern, while the front hem features a silhouette of landmarks in the city of Clermont-Ferrand, including the Place de Jaude, a statue of ancient Gaul king Vercingetorix — who was born near where the modern-day city of Clermont is located — and the Puy de Dôme.
