Puma Launches 13 New Away Kits for National Teams, Including 6 in World Cup

After dropping 10 new national team home kits in late May, German sportswear company Puma was at it again on Monday, launching a total of 13 new away kits for the national football federations it outfits. This includes six countries who will play in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar this November and December.

All 13 of the away kits launched Monday follow a similar motif: a Puma logo and the national team crest in the middle of the chest, and then some sort of shape containing the player’s number. Some of the shapes are more pronounced than others; some even contain the country’s flag and the national team’s nickname.

“The bold new design language reinterprets national motifs from football, culture, and nature, bringing them together in ways that turn each jersey into a statement piece for the nation and the national team,” reads a Puma press release.

Here’s a look at all 13 kits and what Puma has to say about each of them, starting with countries that will participate in this fall’s World Cup:

SENEGAL

“Fast meets ferocious in the new Senegal Away kit. The national flag, federation emblem, and ‘Les Lions’ lettering take center stage, complemented by an abstract graphic of a lion’s mouth to celebrate the bravery and intensity shown by the Lions of Teranga, Africa’s reigning champions.”

MOROCCO

“Details make all the difference in this 2022 Morocco Away jersey. The team emblem at the center is complemented by tonal graphics that pull from traditional Moroccan mosaics.”

SERBIA

“The Eagles have landed. The white 2022 Serbia Away jersey features gold accents and bespoke front panel graphics to celebrate Serbia’s footballing heritage. Central to the crest is a stylized reference to the coat of arms found at the Prince Mihailo Monument in Belgrade. Established in 1882, at the founding of the kingdom of Serbia, the coat of arms is incorporated into the crest to unite the team and the fans.”

Football shirt blog Todo Sobre Camisetas also reports that Serbia’s home kit — which was not part of Puma’s May releases — will be red with gold accents and a tonal pattern of crosses all over. It too features the new national team crest.

SWITZERLAND

“Stand for Suisse. The off-white Switzerland Away jersey is lit up by red graphics and accents that pay tribute to the national flag, federation emblem, and everything they stand for.”

GHANA

URUGUAY

“The Uruguay Away jersey looks to the federation emblem and the national flag for a fresh and fearless take on the national team identity. The country flag and the ‘Uruguay’ script complement the centrally aligned crest.”

ITALY

“The Azzurri honor the Tricolore. The white jersey lights up in bold graphics and proud details inspired by the colors of the national flag. The custom gold accents pay tribute to Italy’s golden footballing heritage.”

These are the last kits Puma will produce for Italy before Adidas takes over as the national team’s supplier in 2023.

AUSTRIA

“Das Team fly their colors. Inspired by the national flag, the white, black and red Austria Away jersey combines the team emblem, country name, and national colors into a bold front panel graphic that celebrates all things Austria.”

UPDATE (1:52 p.m. MT): The Österreichische Fußball-Bund and Puma also released a new home kit for the Austrian national teams today. It’s solid red, with a white button-up collar. Both the Puma logo and the national team crest sit on the left chest.

CZECHIA

“From generation to generation. The 2022 Czech Republic Away jersey in white, red and blue takes inspiration from the team’s emblem to celebrate the nation’s storied footballing heritage.”

ICELAND

“Football and folklore are one and the same in the Iceland Away jersey. The graphic at the center pays homage to the four protectors of Iceland: the dragon, the bull, the griffin, and the giant, as seen on the national coat of arms and the national team emblem.”
