The Brooklyn Nets are kicking off their 10th anniversary season with a new Statement Edition uniform.
Unveiled this past Tuesday, the new uniform is “inspired by the classic uniform of New Yorkers.” Like most of the team’s uniforms during their short time in Brooklyn, it’s predominantly black and white with a heavy focus on keeping it simple.
Across the black uniform is the team’s name, “NETS,” in black, trimmed in platinum with the player’s number below in the same colour scheme and typeface. A single stripe borders a black-on-black herringbone pattern, and three stars are laid out vertically down the right side of the jersey.
This stripe and herringbone pattern continues down to the shorts, which contain an all-black Nets secondary logo at the waistband.
The design of the uniform feels like a combination of the Brooklyn Nets’ usual black (“Icon”) uniform with the old New York/New Jersey Nets uniforms of the 1970s and 1980s.
“Ten years ago, the Brooklyn Nets made history as the first NBA team to wear black and white as its primary colours,” said Andrew Karson, Senior Vice President of Brand Marketing of the Brooklyn Nets, in the press release. “For New Yorkers, black has been the uniform for decades – it’s chic, and for many represents edginess, sophistication and elegance. We’re proud to continue that tradition as we enter the Nets’ second decade in Brooklyn with a new twist on the classic Icon uniform.”
The Nets will wear their new Statement Edition uniform seven times at home in 2022-23, once during each Friday night home game of the season and again on Hallowe’en. The entire home schedule is below:
