The Cincinnati Bengals will not only debut their new white alternate helmet during Thursday night’s game against the Miami Dolphins (8:15 p.m. on Amazon Prime), but they’ve also painted the turf at Paycor Stadium to match the white and black design.
The logo at midfield and the wordmark and stripes in the end zones are actually sewn into the turf, so unlike some stadiums across the league – where the markings can be removed and repainted on the grass or turf – the Bengals simply sprayed white paint over the orange in the already existing design.
This marks the first new field design for the Bengals since 2012, when they replaced the leaping tiger at midfield with their primary logo, though they added a bolder stroke around the “B” when they updated the surface to Shaw Sports Momentum Pro in 2018.
Other minor changes or additions since then include gold numbers at midfield and gold NFL shields on the 25-yard lines during the 2015 season to commemorate the 50th Super Bowl, the Bengals’ 50th season logo at the 25-yard lines in 2017, the NFL’s 100th season logo at the 25-yard lines in 2019 and Wild Card logos in 2013, 2015 and 2021.
