This year marks English Premier League side Newcastle United’s 130th birthday, and the club is celebrating with a brand new kit.
The anniversary kit, made by Castore, was launched on Friday, October 14. It is predominantly black, with grey vertical stripes down the front — a play on Newcastle’s traditional home kit with black-and-white vertical stripes.
Overtop of the stripes is a tonal pattern consisting of Newcastle’s crest — with the club name replaced by its date of founding (December 9, 1892) — and flourishes. The crest and Castore’s logo are embroidered in the middle of the chest.
Since 1892 the football club has been the lifeblood of the city of Newcastle and adored by fans around the world.
The Newcastle United shirt has been worn by local lads dreaming big, international icons, last-minute heroes and fan favourites, with the 130 anniversary shirt paying homage to all those special players and moments throughout the history of the football club.
The famous club crest sits at the heart of the limited-edition shirt, symbolising the passion, the love and connection between club, players and supporters.

The polo collar and sleeve cuffs feature grey striping. The back of the shirt has “NUFC” spelled out vertically on the collar and “130 Years” written out near the bottom, under where the player numbers would go.
In Friday’s announcement, the club didn’t mention in which, if any, upcoming matches the new kit would be worn.
