Liverpool Changes Up Shirt Sponsor Logo in Match Against Manchester City

Premier League side Liverpool FC switched up the sponsor logo on the front of their jerseys over the weekend to draw attention to a good cause.

During their match against Manchester City on Sunday, Liverpool players sported the logo of the Futuremakers by Standard Chartered program on the front of their shirts. Futuremakers is a program run by the club’s usual shirt sponsor, Standard Chartered, that is “focused on breaking down barriers to opportunity and empowering the next generation to make meaningful contributions to the world around them.”

Futuremakers currently runs in the United States and the United Kingdom. It helps demystify the financial sector, giving young people the knowledge they need to succeed in the sector. It also helps skilled migrants and young people from underrepresented communities overcome barriers to employment in finance. And its incubators and mentorship programs give aspiring young entrepreneurs the tools and inspiration to realize their business dreams.

The Futuremakers program aims to raise $75 million US by 2023 to tackle inequality and promote greater economic inclusion.

Standard Chartered, an international bank based in London, has been Liverpool’s shirt sponsor since 2010. The two sides renewed their contract for four years in July 2022 in a deal reportedly worth £50 million per year.
