La Liga, Serie A Launch 2022-23 Winter Balls

The top leagues in both Italy and Spain launched their high-visibility winter balls this week, which will go into use once play resumes after the World Cup.

Both La Liga and Serie A unveiled new, brighter of their Puma Orbita model match balls recently. They both feature bright yellow bases and reworked colorways of the balls they used through the summer and fall.

While the new La Liga ball maintains the panel structure of the ball used thus far, it switches up the markings quite a bit. Rectangular shapes running around the ball fade from magenta to dark teal, with white Puma and La Liga logos overtop. Underneath is a broken-up zigzag pattern that also fades between magenta and teal.

“Designed to ensure maximum visibility of its trajectory, the new ball features a dramatic and bold graphic with a striking colour scheme and is inspired by the enduring rivalry between teams and the intensity that characterises every LaLiga match.  These visuals are enhanced by the insertion of a series of rectangles in a more subdued violet tone that give it a classic look during movement, while also helping to balance the overall graphic concept it defines.”

Serie A’s new ball, meanwhile, stays truer to its summer version. The yellow base in covered in dark blue A-shaped markings that have lighter blue and yellow highlights inside. Dark and light blue shapes fill in the spaces between. Markings under the writing “PALLONE UFFICIALE SERIE A 2022/2023” (“OFFICIAL SERIE A BALL 2022/2023”) are in the colours on the Italian flag. The Puma logo is pink.

“The ORBITA Winter Serie A, which will make its field debut on Matchday 16 of Serie A TIM , features powerful graphics inspired by the logo of Italy’s top professional soccer division. The vibrant PUMA logo in the Sunset Glow colorway and the Blue Glimmer and PUMA White details, integrated into the Yellow base, ensure excellent visibility of the ball in all weather conditions.”
