After releasing lucha libre-inspired third kits for the Liga MX teams it outfits last year, manufacturer Charly is drawing on a different Mexican tradition for this year’s set.
The company unveiled third kits for the six Liga MX teams in its portfolio — León, Atlas, Santos Laguna, Pachuca, Querétaro and Tijuana — on Wednesday, December 7. They were designed in partnership with Mexican artists Jacobo and María Ángeles, who are based in the state of Oaxaca and specialize in alebrije figures — hand-carved, brightly colored folk art sculptures of mythical creatures.
Each shirt features a representation of the club in the Ángeles’ alebrije style. One side of each shirt typically features a muted, tonal design, while the other side has the same design in fuller, brighter colors, but there are some variations.

The shirts will be worn during the clausura, or second half, of the Liga MX season when it kicks off on Friday, January 6.
