Argentine FA Unveils New 3-Star Crest After Beating France in World Cup Final

The Argentine Football Association (AFA) wasted no time marking the nation’s third FIFA World Cup win, unveiling a new crest just hours after the final whistle.

The new crest now contains three stars, each representing a win at the World Cup (1978, 1986, 2022).

An monochrome gold version was also tweeted out on the Argentinian men’s national team’s Twitter account.

Several online shops have also started taking pre-orders on commemorative jerseys, which are similar to those the Argentinian team wore during the trophy presentation and celebrations after their win over France on Sunday.

The kits are the same basic design as what Argentina unveiled in July and wore during the 2022 World Cup. The extra star has been added to the crest — though in a different configuration than what the AFA and the national team tweeted out — and a gold World Champions badge sits in the middle of the chest.

World Soccer Shop is pre-selling kits with several different players’ names and numbers, as well as a version with gold “CAMPEONES DEL MUNDO” printing and three gold stars on the back.

Anyone wanting one of the kits with Lionel Messi’s name and number 10 may have to wait a while, though. According to Front Office Sports on Twitter, Messi’s jersey is sold out across the world. And World Soccer Shop is telling customers that Argentina jerseys are backordered until early April.
