A Look at the 2023 NHL All-Star Game Logos, Uniforms and More

The 2023 NHL All-Star Game is taking place this weekend, so with that, let’s go through all the logos and uniforms we’ll be seeing when the league’s best hit the ice down in South Florida.

First, the 2023 NHL All-Star Game logo itself.

The logo shows a typical Florida sunset (though the sun only *rises* over the ocean on the side of Florida where the Panthers play). The sky shows a Houston Astros-like transition from red to orange to yellow with “all-star” laid across it in a navy blue palm-tree style typeface. In the upper right are two blue seagulls, noting the two times the Panthers have hosted; below is a sandy Florida beach and the light blue of the Atlantic Ocean.

And now en français…

The uniforms of the 2023 NHL All-Star Game continue on with the Reverse Retro 2.0 program unveiled earlier this season. Adidas and the NHL are bringing back the style of uniforms worn during the All-Star Game from 1994 until 1997. In true Reverse Retro fashion, while the logos and striping remain the same, things have been recoloured to give the throwback threads a fresh new look.

The original Western and Eastern Conference logos are back, recoloured black, Biscayne Blue (teal?) and Flamingo Pink (pink.) to match the South Florida theme of this year’s game, as is the NHL’s mostly forgotten alternate black and orange rounded puck logo of the 1990s. As is the case with all Reverse Retro jerseys in 2022-2023, the NHL logo appears at the collar with orange instead of silver.

Each conference has a light and a dark version; the alternate versions will only be used should two teams from the same conference meet up in the final game.

Speaking of Reverse Retro… the 2023 NHL All-Star Skills Competition will take place on Friday night – February 3rd, with all players suited up in their respective team’s Reverse Retro sweater:

The logo for the 2023 NHL All-Star Skills competition continues on with the overall theme of the All-Star Game branding, which is palm trees and the sky. In this case, the sky is pink with stars shining, and the two L’s in SKILLS transformed into palm trees. A puck with an orange starfish below.

In French, the logo for habiletés des étoiles is the same concept with the French name of the event replacing the English; thanks to the “L” in “habiletés,” they were able to re-use the palm tree idea.

Each of the four divisions competing in the All-Star mini-tournament will get their own logo as well, the abbreviated version of each of their names with colourways matching on a per-conference basis (Pacific and Central, Atlantic and Metropolitan). Each division gets a primary and a wordmark logo, though you won’t see these logos used in the game or on the uniforms; they’re really only for television and sports logos websites.

Before we skedaddle, a look back at the last dozen and a few NHL All-Star Game logos, going back to 1999 in Tampa right up to 2023 in sunny Sunrise. A Florida bookend.
