Canadian Premier League side Halifax Wanderers FC is paying tribute to the landscape and the people of its home province with its new kits for the 2023 season.
The Wanderers became the first CanPL side to unveil kits for 2023 when they hosted an event for supporters on Tuesday, March 7. The kits are manufactured by Macron, which outfits all eight clubs in the league.
The primary kits are predominantly navy blue, with a “naval grey” V-neck collar and sleeve cuffs. A sublimated tonal pattern on the front and sleeves represents “the black granite rocks which have been sculpted by the sea.”
“Using the club’s navy blue base and naval grey accents, it’s a recognizable and unique design that respects the Wanderers’ classic look and connects to the land and water that Nova Scotians play on.”

The alternate kit, meanwhile, features a white base with the club slogan “Together From Aways” embossed across the front and sleeves. A multicolored mosaic pattern that “brings attention to the cultural mosaic of Halifax” is found on the sleeve cuffs and the back half of the collar. Sponsor logos appear in navy blue.
“The club’s motto of ‘Together From Aways’ is embossed into the front of the shirt, a reminder to anyone wearing it that they can be part of the Wanderers Family from anywhere.”

The mosaic pattern is also used for the names and numbers on the back of the jersey.
Another CanPL unveiling that slipped under our radar came back in late January, when the league unveiled its fifth anniversary logo. It features the number 5 inside a pentagon, with the league’s maple leaf-compass logo inside the 5.
“Inspired by the pentagon shape associated with classic soccer balls, the five-year anniversary logo pulls elements from the emblem that has become synonymous with the Canadian Premier League over the first four years of its history, through a consistent colourway of pitch green, night sky blue and ocean blue.’

The CanPL also released variations of the fifth anniversary logo in the colors of all eight clubs.
The 2023 Canadian Premier League season kicks off with Opening Weekend on April 15 and 16. Halifax Wanderers FC will travel to the nation’s capital to take on Atlético Ottawa on Saturday, April 15, at 1 p.m. ET.
