Canadian Premier League side Pacific FC is drawing from the beauty that surrounds their home city of Victoria, British Columbia, for their 2023 primary and alternate kits.
The club unveiled the kits on their social media channels on Wednesday, April 5, saying that they’re “inspired by the area in which the club lives and works.”
“Our club takes great pride in our home on Vancouver Island and the beauty and nature that we have all around us,” said Paul Beirne, Pacific FC’s managing director. “Our kits this season reflect some of the best of what the Island and our province has to offer.”
The purple primary kit features a sublimated pattern of tonal geometric shapes depicting “one of the province’s most treasured animals, the spirit bear— the rare, white-coated black bear that calls the coastal temperate rainforests of Northwestern British Columbia home.” The collar and sleeve cuffs are solid purple with gold piping, while the Macron logos and inserts at the hem are gold.
The alternate kit features a light teal pattern on a white base. The pattern is “a collage of imagery such as ocean waves as well as of the surfing, camping and paddling activities that are reminiscent of the true Island long weekends, warm nights and salty summers that make this area of British Columbia unique.” The collar and sleeve cuffs are gold with white trim.
Pacific FC is also keeping its popular alternate kit from 2022 in the rotation as a third kit in 2023. It features a bold black-and-white print that was created by Coast Salish artist Maynard Thii Hayqwtun Johnny Jr. and depicts salmon and children’s faces throughout.
All three kits will feature the logo of Canadian telecommunications giant Telus on the front as the club’s main sponsor. On Wednesday, the CanPL announced that Telus had signed on as the league’s official and exclusive telecommunications, digital health and home security partner until 2027.
Telus is jumping into soccer sponsorship with both feet this year. The company was recently announced as the new front-of-shirt sponsor for the Vancouver Whitecaps of Major League Soccer.
