The new away kit for Ireland’s national football teams will make its on-field debut tonight when the Irish women’s team takes on the United States in a friendly match in St. Louis.
The kit, made by Castore, was unveiled on the Football Association of Ireland’s social media channels Tuesday morning. It’s predominantly white, with green horizontal pinstripes running across the front. The V-neck collar and sleeve cuffs are green, with narrow orange and white striping.
The Castore logo is embroidered in green on the right chest, while the new Ireland national team crest appears in full color on the left chest.
The back of the kit is solid white, with “ÉIRE” spelled out in green on the back collar. Green triangular inserts also appear near the hem. Authentic versions of the kit have four green dots under each arm and on the lower back.
The shorts that go with the jersey are solid green, with white triangular inserts on the sides. The socks are white, with a green Castore logo on the back, a green shamrock on the front and a narrow orange stripe near the top.
Women’s replica versions of the kit are available on the FAI’s online store both with and without the logo of sponsor Sky, a British broadcaster and telecommunications company. Sky and the FAI signed a four-year deal in September 2021 for the broadcaster to become the standalone primary partner of the women’s national team.
The Sky logo won’t appear on the women’s team’s jerseys in any matches. The FAI previously had a similar deal with U.K. telecom company Three that saw their logo placed on replica national team jerseys that were sold to the public.
The unveiling of the new away kit comes about three weeks after the FAI and Castore launched a new home kit for the Irish national teams. The Irish women will wear both kits at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand this summer, where they’ll play in Group B alongside Australia, Nigeria and Canada.
