The National Hockey League today released its logos for the 2023 NHL Draft and 2023 NHL Awards, both of which will be held in Nashville at the end of June.
Starting with the 2023 NHL Draft logo, the design shows a blue and gold hexagon with six vertical stripes, three of which contain stars. Across the front of the shield is “DRAFT” in navy blue on a gold bar; Nashville is below in scripted gold lettering, as is the year in white.
The hexagon shape with the six stripes represents six guitar strings across an “abstract sound hole,” the gold bar is a reference to a guitar pickup, and the three stars on the strings are a nod to the state of Tennessee as well as the league’s future stars.
You’ll note an Upper Deck logo at the bottom of the logo as the draft this year is officially known as the “2023 Upper Deck NHL Draft.”
Take a look at how this year’s NHL Draft logo compares to the designs of recent years:
Not sure how the NHL Draft gets a unique logo every year, but the Stanley Cup cannot… but that’s a question for another day.
Moving on to the 2023 NHL Awards logo, it features a large black diamond trimmed in gold with the NHL shield at the top, “AWARDS” across the middle in silver, and the host city of NASHVILLE below in gold.
The “silver and gold metallic tones” are “reflective of the unique NHL awards and trophies,” says the release from the league.
The 2023 NHL Awards will take place on Monday, June 26 at 8 pm ET and will be held at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. The 2023 NHL Draft will also be held at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, with the first round happening on Wednesday, June 28, at 7 pm ET and the final six rounds held on the next day at 11 am ET.
