Major League Soccer and its clubs are once again raising awareness both off and on the pitch. about the threats posed by plastic waste in the ocean.
To celebrate Earth Day this weekend, all MLS clubs will wear special Adidas “One Planet” kits made entirely out of Parley Ocean Plastic during their matches. The kits come in predominantly black and turquoise colorways; clubs will wear one of the two when they square off on Saturday, April 22, and Sunday, April 23.

Parley plastic is collected from beaches, coastal communities and shorelines before it can reach the ocean. It is then reworked into technical fibers that can be used in either clothing or footwear.
Both colorways feature a hand-drawn design that “pays homage to the ocean floor each jersey aims to protect. Blended into the swirling print, the repeating wordmark ‘End Plastic Waste’ serves as a call to action uniting each club in the collective stewardship of our planet.”

Club crests are rendered in black and turquoise. Adidas logos and shoulder stripes appear in a contrasting shade to the main color of the jersey. Contrasting stitching also runs over each shoulder and down the back.

Here’s how all 29 teams will look when they take the pitch this weekend (except the Vancouver Whitecaps, who have a bye this week):
