The Louisville football program recently unveiled the new turf design that will be installed at L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium over the next few weeks, replacing the previous playing surface with a throwback design.
The outgoing turf, which was installed ahead of the 2013 season, features the Cardinals’ primary logo at midfield and italicized wordmarks in the end zones that matched the design on their uniforms.
The new design, meanwhile, features the retro “Heisman Bird” at the 50-yard line, complementing the “Dunking Bird” logo that has been used at center court of the KFC Yum! Center since 2019.
The new black end zones, which are now completely surrounded by a white out-of-bounds area, and the yard-line numbers also use the same typeface as the baselines on the basketball court.
The removal of the previous surface – which will be sectioned off and even to season ticket holders – began on April 25, while the project is expected to be completed by early June.
